TyphoonWallpaper is a program that helps you manage your computer’s wallpaper images at a totally different level of control. TyphoonWallpaper features multiple monitor support with a different image on each monitor as well as the ability to have a wallpaper image that changes. The software also comes with unlimited access to hundreds of free, high resolution images available for download.
Wallpaper is a background image displayed on your computer desktop that replaces the default solid color. You can choose different wallpaper images within Windows by selecting form the Start menu and then choosing the Desktop tab.
Typhoon Wallpaper gives you more pictures and options for displaying wallpaper. Use the Picture Folder to browse any folder on your computer and select images to use as wallpapers. Those images that you choose for wallpapers are displayed in the Picture Pen area. Think of the Picture Folder as access to all the possible pictures on your computer, and the Picture Pen as the subset of those pictures you choose to use as wallpaper.
You can use Typhoon Wallpaper to simply select pictures from the Windows folder or download new wallpaper images from Typhoon Wallpaper’s web page where we provide a large collection of beautiful, high resolution wallpaper images.
You can drag and drop pictures from the top area into the bottom area. Adding custom folders to the Picture Folder area and having an area for your favorite wallpapers is useful for organizing large collections of wallpapers.
You can access TyphoonWallpaper’s main interface by either selecting Manage Wallpaper from the TyphoonDesktop tray icon right-click menu or by selecting the TyphoonWallpaper icon from the TyphoonDesktop launch bar.
Monitor
Typhoon Wallaper supports multiple monitors. Select the monitor here. Options for wallpaper style, stretch, and calendar are saved for each monitor. The thumbnails shown in the Picture Pen are saved for each monitor as well.
Picture Folder
Displays thumbnails for the selected folder. Select a picture (click once) and then click on Use Picture button to make that picture your wallpaper. Double click on a thumbnail to view a large preview of the picture before making it your wallpaper. Use the Back and Up buttons to navigate through your folders.
Select a folder from the Picture Folder drop down menu and the pictures in that folder will be displayed. Select a picture from the picture folder and then click on the Use Picture button to make that picture your wallpaper. If you double-click on a picture it will bring up the Preview dialog where you can chose to make that picture your wallpaper or view other images. When you choose to make an image your wallpaper it is added to the Picture Pen as well.
Select the Browse button to select any folder on your computer. When you browse to a folder it is added to the list of available Picture Folders. You can use the BACK and UP buttons below the Picture Folder to navigate through the folders.
Picture Bucket/Pen/Keg/Bag/etc.
As you select pictures from the Picture Folder to use as wallpaper they are added to the Picture Bucket. The Picture Bucket contains your chosen images and a list is maintained for each monitor. You can remove items from the Picture Bucket by selecting a thumbnail and then clicking on the Don’t Use Picture button. The Picture Bucket is the place to keep a list of your favorite wallpapers.
You can add pictures to the Picture Bucket by dragging a picture from the Picture Folder, downloading a TyphoonTools wallpaper, selecting a thumbnail in the Picture folder and clicking the Use Picture button, or right-clicking on a thumbnail in the Picture Folder and selecting Use Picture.
Remove pictures from the Picture Bucket by selecting a thumbnail and pressing Delete on your keyboard, clicking the Don’t Use button, or right-clicking and selecting Don’t Use Picture.
Options
The options selected here are saved for each monitor. You can chose a wallpaper style, whether to have the wallpaper stretched or not, and whether to display the calendar. Select a thumbnail and click on the Preview Picture button to view a large version of the picture, or click on Don’t Use Picture to remove the selected thumbnail from the Picture Bucket.
More Wallpaper
Clicking on this button will open your web browser to the wallpaper download page on the Typhoon Tools website where you can choose from hundreds of beautiful, high resolution wallpapers for your desktop. Clicking on a picture there will download it to your system and place it in the Downloaded Wallpaper folder.
Settings
Select Turn Off Wallpaper to remove typhoon wallpaper from Window’s list of available desktop images. Select Popup After Download if you want the preview dialog to appear after you download a picture from the Typhoon Wallpaper web site. Select Set Wallpaper After Download if you want the image to be your wallpaper as soon as the download is complete.
More Settings
In the upper-right corner of the config screen are three options for displaying wallpaper. Selecting Turn Wallpaper Off will display a solid color on your desktop or whatever you choose in Windows.
Popup After Download controls whether the preview dialog pops up after an image is downloaded from the Typhoon Wallpaper web site.
Set Wallpaper After Download controls whether an image is loaded as your wallpaper right away or just added to your Picture Pen to be chosen later.
When you double-click a thumbnail image a large preview is displayed with buttons on the bottom. The Back and Next buttons allow you to browse the images in the Picture Folder. The Set Wallpaper Main button will change the wallpaper on your main montior to the image being displayed. If you have multiple monitors you will have the option to set the wallpaper for them too. The Manage Wallpaper button will bring up the config screen, and the Close button will close the preview dialog.
Using TyphoonWallpaper with Multiple Monitors
If your computer uses more than one monitor you can take advantage of one of the most popular features of Typhoon Wallpaper — displaying a different wallpaper image on each monitor. Simply select which monitor you want to configure by making a choice in the drop down Monitor: menu near the top-left of the config screen.
Typhoon Wallpaper maintains a Picture Pen for each of your monitors. Simply double click on a picture’s thumbnail to make it the wallpaper for the selected monitor.
Wallpaper Style
The Wallpaper style menu gives you options for displaying wallpaper in different styles. Set the style to Single Picture if you want a single picture displayed without changing. Set the style to Cycle Through Pictures if you want the wallpaper image to change every few minutes.
The Stacked style will display nine images like stacked photographs with white borders. The Grid style will display nine images in a grid, aligned and without borders.
Stretch Wallpaper
Sometimes an image is not in the perfect aspect ratio to fit your monitor. Select the Stretch Wallpaper option if you want Typhoon Wallpaper to stretch the image to fill your screen.
Hide Calendar
If you don’t want the calendar info added to the wallpaper image then select this option to hide the calendar.
NOTE: These settings for wallpaper style, stretch and calendar are remembered for each monitor on your system.
Clicking on the More Wallpaper button in the middle of the config screen will open your browser to the Typhoon Wallpaper web site where we have a gallery with hundreds of high resolution images in several categories for you to choose from.
Pictures on the Typhoon wallpaper web site come in two sizes, 1600×1200 for monitors with a 4×3 aspect ratio, and 1920×1080 for widescreen (16×9) monitors. When you see a picture you like, click on the link and it will be downloaded to your computer. You will be shown a preview of the picture where you can choose to add the picture to your wallpaper collection or not.
