What is TyphoonWand?
Configuring TyphoonWand
Options
TyphoonWand is a program that recognizes and responds to movements you make with your mouse. These movements, making a circle, a box or a back-and-forth motion are called “mouse gestures”. TyphoonWand can launch any Windows program in response to one of these gestures. TyphoonWand detects three types of movement, in two directions, for a total of 6 distinct mouse gestures.
You can launch TyphoonWand by either selecting it from the TyphoonDesktop tray icon’s right-click menu or by selecting the TyphoonWand icon from the TyphoonDesktop launch bar.
To use TyphoonWand you must first configure it so that a gesture is associated with a Windows program. At the top of the configuration screen is a list of the six distinct mouse gestures and the program associated with each.
To associate a program with a gesture, select the gesture you wish to use from the list and using the Action to Perform drop-down menu, select the action you wish to run whenever the gesture is detected. If you select Run Program here, then be sure to click the … button to select which program you would like to run.
NOTE that each change you make to the TyphoonWand configuration screen is saved as soon as you make the change. To exit the configuration screen simply hit the Return key, click the OK button, or click the Close button.
Adjusting the gesture sensitivity
The TyphoonWand configuration screen allows two types of adjustment for detecting mouse gestures. You can adjust the Mouse Gesture Speed and the Mouse Gesture Accuracy. Each of these have three available settings.
The low speed setting works better when gestures are drawn slowly. The high speed setting works better when gestures are drawn rapidly, in a fraction of a second.
The low accuracy setting will be more forgiving than the high setting when it comes to identifying the shape (square, circle, or line) that is drawn.
Other Options
If you do not want Typhoon Wand to respond to mouse gestures you can turn it off by selecting the check box in the upper-right portion of the Typhoon Wand config screen. Leave this box unchecked to use Typhoon Wand.
